About school

Following a longstanding tradition, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, in cooperation with Institutes of Information Theory and Automation and of Mathematics, Czech Academy of Sciences, and Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University will organize the Spring School on Variational Analysis VII. The spring school will be held in Paseky nad Jizerou, in a chalet in the Krkonoše Mountains from May 19 to May 25, 2019.

The program will consist of series of lectures on Variational Analysis and its Applications delivered by

  • Prof. Helmut Gfrerer Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria (Mathematical Programs with Disjunctive Constraints from the Viewpoint of Variational Analysis: Theory and Numerical Methods)
  • Prof. Tim Hoheisel McGill University, Montréal, Québec, Canada (Convex Analysis on a Class of Matrix Support Functionals)
  • Prof. em. Alexander Ioffe Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel (Optimal Control Theory: A View from Variational Analysis)
  • Prof. em. Diethard Klatte (Cancelled) University of Zurich, Switzerland (Selected Topics of Existence Theory and Perturbation Analysis in Nonlinear Optimization)
  • Prof. Boris Mordukhovich Wayne State University, Detroit MI, USA (Second-Order Variational Analysis with Applications to Optimization and Control)
  • Prof. Jean-Paul Penot (New) Pierre and Marie Curie University - Paris 6 | UPMC · Institut de mathématiques de Jussieu, France (Some Uses of Nonsmooth Analysis for Constrained Optimization )

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together researchers with common interest in the field. There will be opportunities for informal discussions and short communications. Graduate students and others beginning their mathematical career are encouraged to participate.

Fee
